In December 2021, two landmark events in the field of education development took place at once in Tyumen Region in the area of Digital Substation:
- A digital substation training ground was opened at SIBURINTEKH Innovation Center for the Development of Engineering and Technical Expertise.
- The Tyumen Industrial University opened a digital substation training facility.
The SIBURINTEKH Innovation Center for the Development of Engineering and Technical Expertise is a special training center: it is filled with cutting-edge equipment from leading developers of smart technologies and solutions for industrial production. The training facilities are fully up-to-date and, in the long run, should allow students to immerse themselves in the production process while still in training. The center will be used to train IT specialists in automated control systems for power plants and substations, organize majors for university, vocational school, and college students, and implement advanced training programs for specialists in the Russian oil and gas sector.
Besides, the new site allows to implement research programs in new digital technologies at power facilities, including the development of information security skills and techniques to ensure reliable operation of digital substation equipment.
EKRA specialists performed design, manufacture, adjustment, and commissioning of a 110/10 kV relay protection complex, fault recorders, control & automation EVICON software and hardware package, digital CTs, analog signal converters, communication equipment, network analyzer, time synchronization systems, and test equipment.
The Tyumen Industrial University also boasts a new digital substation training facility now. Students of dedicated departments will now be able to acquire skills in operating digital substation equipment and carry out research programs at their alma mater.
It is worth noting that EKRA is actively involved in supplying such equipment to electrical engineering universities in Russia and neighboring countries, as well as to various specialized training centers.
